How do I clean off "oil-like" stain of the screen?

Hello,

I noticed an oil-like stain on the bottom of my screen [which appears as a series of green and red dots]. Is there any way to safely remove it? Should I go to Apple Service? It's possible it's a stain from a drink or food, but I'm not sure. I first noticed it about two weeks ago [it's most visible against a white background].

It does look like it's under the screen, when I try to clean it off.

Did your mac ship with a cleaning cloth..?

if it is under the screen, no matter how long you scrub it will not resolve the issue.

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment from Apple® Store.

Hello,

I’m located in Czechia, so no Apple Store, only authorized Apple services.

It did not come with the cleaning cloth. I’m not entirely sure whether it’s under. When using my own cleaning cloth dipped in water, it does absolutely nothing.

When the display is off it does like like a simple smudge.

Then I would take it to your Czechia authorized service store for their opinion over the counter.

Nothing more I can do on-line here.
