IOS 16.2 Add eSIM

After updating to IOS 16.2 I cannot turn on cellular service on my iPhone 12. When I go to Settings > Cellular my phone number displays with cellular in the Off position. When I flip it to On, the setting will not hold. Below the phone number is an Add eSIM icon. I've used this phone for 10 months. I cannot make or receive calls. How do I fix this? Resetting Network settings did not work, nor did shutting the phone down, nor did resetting all settings.

It sounds like there are problems with activating your eSIM after your update to iOS 16.2.

Remember, in order for your eSIM to register, you must be connected to WiFi, so first you must log in to WiFi.

Then try turning off your iPhone and turning it on again - give it some time and see if your eSIM registers on the network.

If your eSIM does not activate, then you must contact your Carrier and ask them to send a new QR code that you can scan, and in that way create your eSIM again. Before adding your eSIM again, remove the old one stuck in the activation.
