Deleting unwanted apps from my MAC

Hi - just experienced my Mac asking me to provide proof of identity in order to move an app to the bin.

I needed to use my fingerprint, but do not recall this ever happening before.

Was this security step added in the last update (I am running Ventura 13.1) or did I turn this on unknowingly? I do not recall this happening in the past.

More important, does anyone know how to turn this security step off?

After all, it's my computer. No one else has access to it. I would rather not have to validate my identity to myself in order to carry-out operations I initiate on my own machine.

I left the prompts asking if you are sure you want to empty the bin, but that's about all the second guessing I think I want to deal with.

Thanks in advance for any help

You always have to supply an Admin password to modify parts of the System, located on a separate locked, signed, notarized checksummed System Volume.

In your case, touch-ID suffices.

and NO you can not turn that feature off.
