Where do I change the default OS the page suggests?
Sorry but have looked for weeks, can't find it. The site thinks I am still running an older OS and I need to update it.

I don't believe that information is stored anywhere. You have to specifically select the topic you think is relevant.
For example, this is what I get when posting a new Discussion:
I can find no reason for nominating those selections, other than the fact I mostly post in the Safari forum. I almost never visit the Apple ID forum because it's a mess 🙂
What you're seeing is probably related to one of this site's recent updates, and is nothing we can control.

This site (Apple Support Communities)?
The selection is populated from the devices Apple thinks you own. You can see and / or update it here: https://mysupport.apple.com/products
Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in
Otherwise... we need more information.
It is hard to give remote help with so little information. Please help us help you by posting:
Thanks,
Yes, whenever I go to post I am required to enter an OS, and the first one offered is "Big Sur. I have to navigate menus to find Ventura. There must be a Profile item to set but I can't find any such. I inadvertently posted on the Big Sur board a few times because of it.

That's an annoyance as well. Presumably implemented to stop the spam / advertisements, which were out of control for a while. It doesn't make it any less annoying.
That doesn't explain why it thinks I am running an older OS (High Sierra).
Ok, so this site (Apple Support Communities) thinks you're running an older OS, is that correct?
What are you seeing that leads you to that conclusion?
There isn't. Inputting such information is no longer an option since they started using the automated process.
You mean to say the server software is reading my OS wrongly?
Your device was automatically added when you signed in to your iCloud/Apple ID account the first time. I have no idea if the server is reading your device info in real time and registering it.

Thanks, nice to know the server is not picking on just me.
