I can’t pair my iwatch to my iphone

Hi, i have iwatch series 7 which i can’t pair to my iphone 11promax, it says the iwatch is needing a newer version of ios, but my iphone has the latest version (16.2) already coz i set it to automatic update, what shall i do? Thank you
