If you are wanting to use an external keyboard with your iPad but it won't show on the iPad, try following the steps in this article: Adjust the onscreen and external keyboard settings on iPad - Apple Support.
In addition, as with all unexpected iPad behavior, try taking the following steps which may help with this: restart your iPad, make sure it is up to date, close the apps that are using the keyboard then reopen them and make sure all apps are updated.
