Why do I need iCloud?

I get charged $.99 a month for iCloud, but I don't know what it does. It seems to back up photos and documents, but I don't need that because I use Dropbox for that. Sometimes I get email saying my storage limit is getting full, but so what? I don't use it. I don't have an iPhone (have an android one) and my main computer is Windows. I do have an iPad and I also have Apple TV. Do I need iCloud for either of these? Why can't I just delete it.

I tried these suggestions and got the response you warned about: If you can't click Done, make sure that you're signed in with the same Apple ID that you use for your iCloud+ plan.

But how could I have even logged on to the account with a "wrong" ID? I can log on to iCloud without any problem, but when I try to downgrade to the free option, the "done" link is greyed out. Not sure why I would have more than one ID or how I would find the other one.
