Hey Jean-Luc,

As the issue is limited to the ReadKit app, we'd first recommend checking for and installing any updates that may be available for that app: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

"How to manually update apps on your Mac

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. In the sidebar, click Updates.
  3. Click Update next to an app to update only that app, or click Update All.
  4. Mac showing the Updates page in the App Store.

If you didn’t get the app from the App Store on your Mac, contact the app developer to get help with updates.

You may also want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if that helps.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, we'd recommend contacting the app developer for further assistance. You can find tips to contact developers here: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Thanks!

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
