Is there a way to turn off this tool? I find it annoying.

Is there a way to turn off the cutout tool? I don’t like how it makes my photos look.

Hello EmmaBradshaw,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

The tool only appears if you hold down on an image:

"Separate the subject of your photo from the background and then share it

  1. Open a photo in the Photos app or in apps like Messages or Safari.
  2. Touch and hold the subject of the photo. A shiny white outline might appear.
  3. Let go to reveal options like Copy and Share in the Photos app or Copy Subject in Safari.

You can touch and hold to isolate the subject of your photos on your iPhone with iOS 16 or later."

As outlined here: Create and share photo cutouts on your iPhone

The tool will not appear if you don't hold down on an image. There is no other way to permanently disable it.

You can leave feedback for Apple regarding this by going to Photos

Cheers!
