Vat refund for France or Belgium bought iPhone

If i buy an iphone at an apple store while i am in France or Belgium would it qualify for a vat refund when I return to the States

?

You have to buy at an Apple Store, not online.

While processing the transaction in the store, you should have indicated that you want to receive the tax back.

You will then get a written statement for request refund paid tax, together with the invoice. 

Then you can get the tax amount back at a special counter at the airport.

There is a chance that you will have to pay tax on arrival in your home country, depending on import duties and customs clearance costs.

 

To be sure, you should ask the store where you purchase the iPhone, how that works.

Rules are often changed.
