Apple car play

im Looking to purchase an Apple car play. The problem is now my cars radio is broken and does not work. Does this mean it would or would not work if I got Apple car play. Would I be able to play my music off that?

Using Apple Car Play:

Apple Car Play works off of the audio system. So, if the audio system is down, then, no, playing Apple Music off of it will not work.
