Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

iTunes doesn't show iPhone or iPad under devices......

...yet clearly seen in System Profiler and reappear under devices after each time I download iTunes. (The devices do their vanishing trick everytime the iMac is re-started).

Can anyone throw some light on this please?

Jolly

I have followed all those instructions but to no avail.

Incidentally, iTunesHelper is missing from the Activity Monitor although iTunes is present when the application is open - would this have any bearing on the issue? Also, most of the other files to remove were not present, and there are still no com.apple.itunes files in /Library/Preferences when iTunes has been downloaded and the Mac re-started.

possibly.

iTunesHelper or iTunes Helper, is a program from Apple that runs in the background and monitors for the connection of any iPod or iPhone to the computer

however, reinstalling iTunes should put the app back on your Mac.

the .plist would be recreated when iTunes launches and doesn't find one in <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/library/preferences.
