Focus Mode - infuriating

I've exclusively used iPhones since 2008... I've encouraged others to use them, and love many features along the way. I'm telling you this Focus mode fiasco is infuriating enough that I am ready to abandon Apple.

I've read countless others with the same problem, tried their same workarounds. And like so many others, Focus mode STILL randomly comes on and prevents me from receiving important notices. Does anyone have any new tips and tricks on disabling it permanently??? I've deleted all Focus profiles, turned off sharing across devices, restarted my iPhone, turned off/back on sounds/haptics, verified in my privacy settings that focus mode messages will not be sent.. and Focus still randomly turns itself on.

Apple please hear your customers, your loyal following, and get rid of focus mode.

Hello erinmclark03,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. You've done an excellent job with the troubleshooting steps that were performed. There's a recent update of iOS 16.3 that is now available. We recommend to update your iPhone to the latest version, as it helps provide software improvements that may help resolve your issue with Focus turning on unexpectedly. This is a step that may help. If needed, here's how to update the software on your iPhone:

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

These steps are outlined in this helpful article: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Kind regards.
