Apple Music & CarPlay - major issues!
Hello,
Whenever the phone is connected to either of my vehicles via CarPlay, tracks either don't play at all (usually skips to try and play the next one, only to just keep skipping endlessly), cut out half way through (as if buffering) or i get the generic 'Request timed out' message on my screen.
The issue has been going on for months now, so probably best that I start by detailing what I'm using..
Apple iPhone 13 running iOS 16.2
SIM / Network provider - Sky Mobile (UK) no data restrictions
Cars - 2022 Cupra Formentor (VAG car if you're reading this in the US and don;t know what a Cupra is!) & 2022 Hyundai Tucson N-Line, both MMI firmware fully updated.
Having searched on here previously, here's a list I've 'solutions' I've tried so far with no joy;
- Full factory reset of the phone
- Toggled into airplane mode then back again
- Gone into 'Music' within settings to ensure that 'Mobile data' is activated - also toggled this off and back on
- Reduced all audio quality down to the bear minimum/lowest within the above 'Settings/Music'
- Logged out of apple ID then back in
- Had Sky Mobile resend all of the Carrier settings to my phone
- Deleted Music App (completely and not retaining playlists...) and reinstalled from App Store
- Problem exists regardless of mobile signal (full 5G quite often where I am)
- 'Forgotten' and re-established link with both cars
- Tried both Cable (official Apple) attached to vehicles USB and CarPlay wireless
- Downloaded and used Spotify (free version) through CarPlay and this works perfectly!
- Music works just fine when I'm at the gym or out walking (non-WiFi obviously)
- Tried a friends SIM card (different network)
None of the above has resolved the problem and I'm now left with paying for a service that I can't actually use while I'm in the car!
Apple music works fine when on WiFi at home etc.
My preference is to stick with Apple Music as I prefer it to Spotify, but this issue is simply ridiculously frustrating now and I've only noticed it since getting my 13, which just so happened to coincide with the release of iOS16.2.
The only thing I think I haven't done is have the actual handset replaced by Apple (it's still under Warranty), but I also think this issue is a wider problem and thats not likely to resolve it....
Anyone help or suggest something that I haven't thought of??
Thanks.
