That "the bleep" is another Mac on your network or in range of Bluetooth sharing. What exactly it is is not something we can answer without more details. If you don't have other Macs in the house, do you have a wireless network, and is that network secured with a password?
how is your network secured (WEP, WPA2) ? is your base station/router password protected ? what sharing options did you enable in system preferences > sharing ?
Something you can do is collect the MAC addresses of all of your devices and only allow access to those devices on your airport base station. I could not tell you step by step how but someone else should be able to say how to set that up. In addition to your secured network you would be able to block or at least track what devices are on your network.
That symbol of for a machine that is sharing via SMB the windows protocol. It can be a Mac, NAS, or Windows Machine.
You can find the attache devices and their IP addresses from your router.
Routers are often accessed via the IP address of their gateway. Often 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1. The looked for Attached devices tab/option.
It is also there that you can restrict devices that are allowed to attach by their MAC addresses. These are also displayed in he router menus for attached devices.
