iMessage media

When I send a photo to anyone on iMessage, they don’t get it, they just see a blank bubble. When they send me photos/videos/ voice notes, I can’t open or view them as they don’t download.

however on my iPad everything works fine

Hello kr_is_h,

If the behavior with sending and receiving media via iMessage is isolated to your iPhone, let's start with checking your device storage. If you're running low on space, this can cause unexpected behavior. How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad will walk you through checking your device storage.

"Use your device to check its storage

  1. Go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage. You might see a list of recommendations for optimizing your device's storage, followed by a list of installed apps and the amount of storage each one uses.
  2. Tap an app's name for more information about its storage. Cached data and temporary data might not be counted as usage.

In the detailed view you can:

  • Offload the app, which frees up storage used by the app, but keeps its documents and data.
  • Delete the app, which removes the app and its related data.
  • Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of its documents and data.

If your device is almost full and can't free up space, you might get a Storage Almost Full alert. If you see this alert, you should check the storage recommendations or you need to offload some less-used content like videos and apps. "

For the best performance, it's recommended that you have at least 1GB of free space on your iPhone.

Let us know what you find.

Regards.

Hello kr_is_h,

Does this happen when you're connected to Wi-Fi, cellular, or both? If it happens on Wi-Fi, does it occur on a specific Wi-Fi network or all Wi-Fi networks? As this could be related to the network you've connected to.

Does this occur with a specific contact or all iMessages that include a photo? Are these bubbles showing up in blue or green colors?

If it happens with a green bubble, then you may need to reach out to your wireless carrier for support with text messaging.

Hoping to hear how it goes, take care.

Hi kr_is_h,

The next step is to determine whether this is an iMessaging or SMS messaging issue. When you attempt to send, are you receiving a blue or green bubble? Is the contact you're sending the messages to an iPhone user? If he contact is not an Apple device user, you will need to reach out to your carrier. They will be able to determine whether your account is prohibited to sending photos and videos through messages.
