unicode character codes ending in 0 with hex input are not registered and printed on screen

Using Macos Ventura 13.2, I'm having the same problem as detailed in :

accessing unicode pi via "Unicode Hex Inp… - Apple Community

hexadecimal unicode input broken - Apple Community

Can't type unicode character codes ending… - Apple Community

I set the keyboard layout to 'Unicode Hex Input', and I cannot print the 'pi' symbol (U+03C0) nor the 'degree' symbol (U+00B0). I am using a keyboard running QMK firmware and have no trouble with other symbols and emojis as long as they do not end in 0.

Does anyone have a workaround that I might try, please?

I would have hoped that the bug with Unicode input might be solved by now, but apparently not.

As a workaround you can choose Unicode characters using the Character Viewer. You can choose these or other as favorites to keep them handy. And you can also (probably the best solution) use text replacement: for example set degg to be replaced by the degree symbol, and pii by the symbol for pi.

Also, in the US layout you can simply press Option-p for pi

I moved all the symbols to unicode so that I'd be able to use emojis too without continually changing keyboard layouts. Unicode also settles the problem of switching between US and GB keyboards for hash and GBP symbols.

There is no way to know when if ever the Unicode Hex keyboard will work again. You have to go back to before Monterey or perhaps change your approach. Hash and GBP can always be made directly or with option keys on a single keyboard layout, and emojis are much easier with the character viewer or via text replacements than memorizing codes.
