AirPods Pro audio stops during Hulu commercials and never restarts

When I watch Hulu using my new AirPods Pro the audio is excellent except for when it goes to commercial. When the commercial starts the audio on the AirPods stops and doesn’t restart even when the program restarts. If I disconnect and reconnect the AirPods the audio reconnects fine until the next commercial.

I’m using a Bluetooth transmitter hooked to the TV. The signal is strong as I can move far away from the TV with no degradation. This disconnection only happens when using the optical cable, not when using the standard audio cables. Standard audio cables perform poorly on the AirPods cutting out frequently, so that really isn’t an option.

To verify it’s not the signal from the transmitter I tried hooking to a different Bluetooth speaker and it doesn’t disconnect during commercials like the AirPods do. I’ve also tried using PCM, Dolby and bitstream. I’ve turned off volume leveling and surround sound.

Not sure what other options I have.
