Apple News shows same stories repeatedly

First, News should do a better job of tracking what I've already read.

Also, there should be a button/keyboard-shortcut to tell Apple News something like "i've already read this", or "i've read another similar version of this story and have no interest in seeing this version" or "i'm just not interested" as a way to tell News "please don't show me this again".

I realize i can click suggest more/less (thumbs up/down buttons), but sometimes I want to skip a specific story but not necessarily downgrade the category or try to have the machine learning algorithm guess about my tastes based on this.

I swear the same Atlantic article about pizza boxes has been suggested to me no less than 30 times in the last week - AND I ALREADY READ IT WITHIN NEWS!

This program (News) has (barely) one purpose in life (beyond a browser) and that is to be a good reader app, learn my preferences, and remember what I have and haven't read. It seems to not be doing a good job at any of those. I'll also mention that it lacks BASIC functionality as a reader - it won't let me do a simple search within an article, and in many casesdoesn't even let me scale articles for reading.
