Podcasts not showing up "On my device" in Itunes program

I've seen a couple questions like this but they were mostly from several years ago, and I'm hoping that some new information is available. I prefer to manage podcasts manually rather than through the store. I download a podcast, change the media kind to podcast since its usually set as something else, and then transfer it to my phone. However, I do not have a podcast section on my phone; I am unable to transfer back or do anything from my computer and while I can delete files from the phone I can't do much in the way of editing or organization.

In essence, what I would like is to make it so that this section of the Itunes program on my computer

has a podcast folder to edit.

Podcasts is a specific app on your phone and as far as I know, the Podcasts section n o longer appears in the sidebar that you're looking at. Even if you can force iTunes to show Podcasts in that section, you cannot manage them there.

Instead, click on the Device icon at the top of the iTunes window:

which takes you to the Device/Summary panel. Use that section to select the Podcast Sync options:

If you choose the selected podcasts option (on the right drop-down menu), you can change it to all podcasts if it's not already on that.
