what type of HDMI cable to use?

the HDMI cable that came with my monitor doesn't fit. What cable do I need to get to fit in the macbook pro mid 2014 hdmi port?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

HDMI connector is international standard, any HDMI cable could connect your MacBook Pro.

No.

Macs have always used full size HDMI cables, and the 2014 model has standard HDMI ports.

can you post a picture of the ends of this cable?

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Displays (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.

my LG monitor came with an HDMI cable but it's too big for my macbook's HDMI port. I read that there are several type of HDMI cables - standard, mini, micro. Am I right that the macbook pro mid 2014 requires a mini hdmi cable?

Omg thanks so much, I was being such an idiot 🤦‍♀️ turns out I mixed up the cables and grabbed the display port one, your message made me realise it 🤦‍♀️
