Im trying to add my own music that I purchased from iTunes but it won't show anything on the screen

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

If the songs were purchased in Year 2009 or earlier, they will be DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected and will not show up in the audio browser screen. There would be a message at the bottom of the screen that " ___ number of files are protected and not available." Is that your situation?
