HOW TO DISABLE THE ONSCREEN KEYBOARD on iPad Pro while using external keyboard.

This such a pain. why does the on screen keyboard pop up and take up half the screen when theres already a keyboard connect?!?!?

I’ve gone through settings under keyboard and accessibility keyboard also…

I’ve tried the below:

  • Settings > General > Keyboard > [All Keyboards] Shortcuts - set to OFF
  • Settings > GeneralKeyboards > All Keyboards, and turn off the Shortcuts and Predictive toggles.
  • Setting >  Accessibility - Touch - Assistive Touch - under Pointer Devices you have to switch off 'Show Onscreen Keyboard'.

Could someone please help?

Thanks

Hi there tonynaanbread,

To help isolate the behavior, see if restarting your iPad helps to clear up the issue, as restarting can clear up unexpected behavior. Check out those steps here: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

How to restart an iPad without a Home button
1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

If the issue persist, reach out to Apple Support directly to help investigate the behavior. You can use the following link to reach out: Contact - Official Apple Support

Kind regards.
