why wont my macbook accept my password when trying to update software

I am trying to update to the MacOS Ventura software and it is asking me to enter my password for my laptop. I have entered the correct password but it says it is incorrect and won't let me download the update. How do I update?

MacBook Air, macOS 12.5

Make sure your using the password you use to log into the MacBook account and not your iCloud account.

Also as a side note, make sure the caps lock isn't on. Also, to make sure all the keys are working correctly, open TextEdit. Then type in your macOS password and make sure each character shows exactly right.
