Family shared contacts

Why is there not a feature to allow creation of a family shared contacts list? Presently I had set up a separate contacts account in iCloud that can be linked into each family members app. However, this can lead to problems if a family member flags their own contact information as “me” . This causes others to adopt the wrong contact info for themselves
