Using USB-C to HDMI adapter between my iPad and Denon 8500 AVR to listen to Apple Music Dolby Atmos

I bought the Belkin USB-C to HDMI Adapter today to connect my ipad air 4th gen to my Denon 8500 AVR so that I can play Apple Music in Dolby Atmos without having to rely on airplay.

for some reason, while the ipad shows that I am playing Dolby Atmos, my AVR only shows Multi Channel instead of Dolby Atmos.

any ideas why this is happening?

Hello GanesanK,

Do you have Dolby Atmos set to always output to the connected devices? Per Listen to Dolby Atmos music on iPad - Apple Support:

  1. Go to Settings  > Music > Dolby Atmos.
  2. Choose Automatic or Always On.
    • Automatic: Plays Dolby Atmos whenever iPad is connected to compatible headphones such as AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max, or to speakers or receivers compatible with Dolby Atmos.

Cheers!
