Quicken for Mac - any good

I have looked at other check-writing and similar packages over the years. None have stood up as well as Quicken because of its being built on a database.

This time of year, I run several reports used as a starting place for tax preparation, including these:

all items tagged "medical"

all items tagged "charitable"

all items last year tagged "Tax-related"

This feature alone is the most compelling reason I still use Quicken (albeit the old version)

None of the other packages I looked at (at the time) were able to generate similar reports.

I'm very happy with Quicken for Mac.

Intuit sold Quicken about 7 years ago and the Mac version has been significantly improved since then.

¿Have they made the font size in ledgers adjustable?

I tried it a while ago and could not get all my ledgers on the screen, because they chose a large and non-adjustable font size.

Instead, I created a VirtualBox virtual machine and am using the old Quicken 2007 running in a virtual Mavericks machine.

Quicken for Mac is very good. I have been using it for a few years and am happy with it. Do note, however, that there are still some differences between the Win & Mac versions of Quicken. Win still has some features that are not in the Mac product. But Quicken for Mac has most definitely overcome the disaster it was about 10 years ago.

FWIW, I use Quicken Deluxe. Quicken Starter may be ok for you but I cannot comment on its features since I don't use that version.

Yes they have. I hadn't ever used it but found in help that command + and command - can be used to adjust the register font size.

And it retained the setting when I quit and restarted.

Not all app developers choose to sell their apps through the App Store. There are financial considerations for the app developer when choosing how to make their apps available.
