Can a Late-2014 iMac 5K be connected via cable to a 2019 MacBook Pro?

The iMac connections are: USB 3, Thunderbolt 2, Gigabyte Ethernet

The MacBook: Thunderbolt 3

It likely will not work if you are referring to Target Display Mode. Please read Target Display Mode
