Frozen MacBook

My MacBook Pro freezes in the middle of starting up. Everything was fine and the it froze. I force quit all the open apps and restarted , but the Mac freezes during the startup.

It really helps to know the exact model of the computer and version of macOS used. You can get this information by clicking the Apple menu and selecting "About This Mac" or by entering the system serial number here:

Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support


Try booting into Safe Mode which prevents the automatic launching of third party software during boot & login.


Disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.


Did anything change just before this issue occurred? Was an OS or app update being installed?
