Encrypt local backup

I’m trying to download something which is asking me to uncheck the encrypt local backup option in iTunes.

But I can’t seem to do that as it is greyed out.

I have gone on forums which tell me to delete profiles in my profile bar but I don’t have any profiles.

I also don’t have a VPN as it says it’s not connected and when I click on it, it says add VPN configuration.

Can someone help me please do I can just uncheck the encrypt local backup button on iTunes?

Hello Jules0905,

To help us better assist you, can you let us know more about the situation? For example, are you being asked to turn off encrypted backups when trying to download a specific app only, or multiple? Is this happening when trying to download apps from the App Store, or when trying to download content from another source?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

While it seems like the correct process is being used to try and turn off backup encryption, please also check out the information in this link on how to manage  encrypted backups and settings, which may help: About encrypted backups on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Turn off backup encryption

To turn off backup encryption, uncheck the "Encrypt local backup" checkbox in the Finder or iTunes and enter the password. If you can't remember your password, you have two options:

• If you have an iCloud account, you can use iCloud to back up and restore.
Learn how to reset your backup password.

Thank you.

See also Disable iOS backup encryption - Apple Community. In particular:

If you have forgotten the password, or were not aware that encryption had been enabled, consider that it might be any computer, Apple ID, Wi-Fi password or device PIN that you've used in the past, working from the assumption that you might have reused a common password that you were using when encryption was first activated.
