No text alerts from Android contacts specifically

Anytime I get a text from an Android user, or from anyone in a group chat with even one Android user in it, my phone will only give a visual notification that is found if and only if I tap to wake my lock screen. No vibration, no sound, no illuminating the screen upon receipt.

My phone is not on a "Focus" mode, I have all alerts "on" both locked/unlocked, sound toggle is on (which wouldn't impact the vibration anyway), and I am getting all other text notifications -- including those from unknown/marketing numbers.

How do I force my phone to alert me to ALL texts?

I am completely sick of missing important texts because my iPhone won't alert me, and I should not be required to check my phone every 30 seconds just in case I get a text from an Android user. Is this another Apple-trap for world domination? I have yet to see anyone actually resolve this.

Thank you for your time.

Hi literallycanteven,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're not receiving notifications when you receive texts from Android users. This article can help with checking your settings: Change message notifications on iPhone.

"Manage notifications for messages

  1. Go to Settings  > Notifications > Messages.
  2. Choose options, including the following:
    • Turn Allow Notifications and immediate delivery for Time Sensitive Notifications on or off.
    • Set the position, locations, style, and sounds for alerts.
    • Choose when message previews should appear on the Lock Screen, and how they should be grouped.
    • Set how many times to repeat an alert (from Never to 10 Times) below Customize Notifications.

See Change notification settings on iPhone.

Set a Focus and schedule a summary of your notifications

Focus is a feature that helps you concentrate on a task by minimizing distractions. When you need to focus, or step away from your iPhone, Focus can temporarily silence all notifications—or allow only specific notifications (for example, ones that match your task).

When you turn on a Focus, Messages lets apps and people know you’re busy. If something is urgent, people can choose to notify you anyway.

You can also schedule a summary of your notifications to arrive each day at a specific time. This helps you to reduce interruptions throughout the day, and then quickly catch up at a time more convenient for you.

See Set up a Focus on iPhone and Schedule a notification summary.

Set the alert sound for messages

  1. Go to Settings  > Sounds & Haptics (on supported models) or Sounds (other models).
  2. Tap Text Tone, then do one of the following:
    • Tap Vibration, then choose an option.
    • Tap a sound below Alert Tones.
    • Tap Tone Store to download an alert sound from the iTunes Store.

See Change iPhone sounds and vibrations.

Assign a different sound to a contact

  1. Open Contacts, then select a contact.
  2. Tap Edit, then tap Text Tone.
  3. Choose an option below Alert Tones.
  4. To allow alerts for messages sent by this contact even when Do Not Disturb is on, turn on Emergency Bypass.

Mute notifications for a conversation

  1. In the Messages list, touch and hold a conversation.
  2. Tap Hide Alerts."

If everything is set up properly and you have the latest version of iOS, Contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Take care.
