Thanks. I have tried that. Same problem.
You have tried what? I mentioned two different things.
I can open download the pdf, edit as such, save it. But when I try to reopen, am asked for a password. I am actually downloading corporate financial statements. Is just weird that am allowed to download the pdf but not to re-open! Thx
As I've said before, this is a bug in Apple Preview. The only workaround is to use a 3rd party PDF tool
I just tried this on a random PDF that reproduces the bug, like this one: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf
I can open this PDF with Master PDF Editor, enter some data, save it, re-open, make more changes, etc. No problem. You have to be careful. Apple Preview is the default PDF tool so it will automatically open any PDF if you double-click on the document. Preview saves changes automatically. If you even open a PDF with Apple Preview, you risk modifying the file and locking it. You have to be careful to avoid opening these files with Preview.
And I just tried this with Ventura 13.2. The bug is still there.
