How do you get back to News Today Home Screen on iPad?

If I navigate away from the Today/Home screen on my iPadOS, I can’t get back to it without killing the app and going back in. There has to be a better way? i.e., I go to one of my favorites, not clicking a story in the Today screen. That's obviously the back arrow.

i.e., on my iPhone I can do it in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

cvoisey,

That Sidebar would be how you return to the Today screen.

You tap on the Sidebar button and then tap on 'Today' which is normally positioned at the top of the Sidebar underneath the Search bar. The Sidebar will list other content, but the Today content you are looking for is at the top. If you tap it, it should then load the Today content on the main screen.

This has nothing to do with that. Have you looked at your app? I just tried it on another iPad in an apple store yesterday. There is no link back to the Today screen.

On iOS, it is in the bottom toolbar. On the iPad, there is none, it is the sidebar, which links you to Favorites, Local News, etc. You can NOT go back to the Today screen. It's a design flaw.

Hello cvoisey,

If you don't see the Sidebar button from there, let's try some basic troubleshooting as it is expected to be there.

First, close the News app with these steps: Close an app on your iPad – Apple Support

  1. "From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app. "

Then open News again to see if you see the Sidebar as expected.

We also recommend restarting your device and keeping it updated as those steps assure you have cleared out any minor software issues and are running the most current version.
