Wired EarPods (w/ lightning earphones ) make my phone run slow

Running latest iOS 16.3 on an iPhone SE 2020 with 82% battery capacity and using wired EarPods (w/ lightning earphones ) make my phone run slow. I’m 100% certain the Lightning EarPods are genuine because I’ve used them for years without issues before. This happens after about 5-10 minutes of listening to music on Apple Music. Some examples of the performance worsening are :

The mic control lags/is delayed or freezes up when I click to pause and volume control

Haptic keyboard feedback is delayed/lags when I’m typing

Switching from front facing and rear facing camera is delayed by at least 3-5 seconds instead of being instant when the headphones are not connected

Unplugging the headphones usually instantly makes my phone run like normal

I don’t use any intensive apps just general usage with Apple Music. Not sure if this is some sort of bug with iOS 16. I’ve also reset the phone
