Training video for iWatch notifications

Wearing my iWatch blocks text message notifications. I have read this is by design. All the other notifications may also be getting blocked.

Is there a training video on this? Because the notifications section of the watch app is several pages long and does not explain how do not disturb or focus changes all of this.

I have tossed my watch in a bin as I have upset too many customers due to missed text messages. This issue outweighs all the watches benefits.

Maybe it is too late but message notifications will be...

On the Watch if iphone is locked
On the iPhone if the iphone is open
Always on the iphone if you set Watch message notifications to custom and turn them off

So it's behavior changes based on something that I pay little attention to. That explains why it has been so perplexing.

But they don't seem to happen on the watch if the watch or phone is in silent, Do not disturb, focus, theater mode. Or perhaps even more hard to find settings.
