I have the same issue. iPhone 13 Pro. It's held battery life like a champ, usually lasting for days at a time before needing a charge. Now, after upgrading to iOS 16.3, my battery is visibly draining throughout the day. I now need to charge at least once if not twice a day, even with most applications closed.
I'm angry. Apple just made my new $1300 phone just as good as my iPhone 7 that I just got rid of ... please fix this ASAP!

_LL ~ What exactly is your battery's Maximum Capacity % here?...

Gaslighting. This is a problem and needs to be addressed by Apple ASAP. Telling users to go out of their way to adjust settings to make their phone last through the day following Apple's update is just ... wrong. Steve Jobs would have lost his mind at the lack of user-centricity regarding this.
While reading this page I watched my battery countdown like a second timer. 74% down to 66% in about 10 minutes. Yes, iPhone 8. Yes, original battery. But my battery info says this battery’s health is 76%. Now battery counter is at 64% since starting this post. I’d hate to see what 50% battery health looks like. 20 minutes from full to empty??
But my battery info says this battery’s health is 76%.
And Apple strongly recommends that you replace the battery when Max Capacity it is down to 80%, so you are probably 5-6 months overdue on that.
On average, Battery Health / Max Capacity will decline about 1% a month, so on average you can expect to replace a phone's battery at around 2 years.
If your battery went this long on an iPhone 8, your battery did great.... quite a bit better than average. Congrats!
Have the battery replaced at an Apple Store or authorized Apple Service shop. About $49.
To Apple Staff: stop posting canned answer for this and please escalate this matter. The speed up of drop of power of my iPhone 12 Pro Max after the 16.3 upgrade is EXTREMELY noticeable when using mobile connection. It drops about 2% per minute even all the app with most battery consuming task is forced close, such as Facebook, google map and the screen turn into dimmest setting.
Also, the phone will get HOT and burns my skin through my pants pockets without any reason and checked no background task is running (at least nothing can be observed by end users).
A clean restart doesn't help at all, the battery lost in the same speed at all. The only way to lower the drop is to connect the phone to WIFI.
It not just hjappens on me, it happens to my phone, my wife's phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max), my son's phone (iPhone XS Max)
Is it a little trick that Apple has add to this software release to "warmly remind" us iPhone 15 is going to lauch soon??
It’s happened to my XR (80% capacity) after the update to 16.3! Same for my iPad, same for my wife’s iPhone 11 Pro and both my daughters iPhone 13’s. Now charging at least twice a day. Also locked screen is now just a black screen. Closing all apps (which is not the intended use) doesn’t help. Turning off cellular doesn’t help and what’s the point of a mobile phone without cellular when you travelling. Please fix this urgently.
Yeah like what the **** Apple? I just bought 14pro month ago and battery is draining so fast after last update. (16.3.1.) … Phone doesn’t hold energy even for whole 24 hours. And that’s really disappointing for phone worth $1550…. So do something about that, bcs this is not normal. My fiancé has 13 Pro and she’s dealing with the same issue. Until last update everything worked just fine. Now you just released some not tested piece of software and killed good phones..
There is clearly an issue with IOS 16.3 and battery life. Two separate iPads (Air 4th generation). Pre 16.3, battery lasted around 2 days. Post IOS 16.3, battery life is approximately half a day. No change in usage, apps etc. Please fix this Apple.

No. If there was clearly an issue with 16.3 you would see thousands of posts about it, considering that hundreds of millions of iPhones have been updated; if any more than a tiny number of those had the problem not only would there be thousands of posts, there would be articles in all of the major trade publications and probably popular news sources.
So you need to accept the fact that it is an issue with your device, not with a version used by millions of people, if you want to resolve it.
What troubleshooting have you done so far? Restarted the phone? Checked Settings/Battery to see what apps are using energy (iOS uses practically no energy; almost all energy used on the phone is used by apps)? Deleted any VPN profiles and apps (VPN is a real power hog). Backed up and restored your phone to factory settings, and tested before you restored the backup?
Extensive troubleshooting and investigation carried out. The fact is the same issue with battery life has occurred on two separate iPads following an update to IOS 16.3.
Therefore there is clearly an issue with IOS 16.3, battery life and the IPad Air 4th generation.
Just because there are no issues with battery life with some other devices (e.g. IPhone 14), does not mean there are no issues with IOS 16.3.
It almost like Apple did not not take the time to optimise IOS 16.3 for older devices..

Hardly. It is not "clearly an issue" with 16.3 and my iPad Air 4th generation. Or with millions of others. If it was you would see thousands of posts about it. It is clearly an issue with your iPad. That is the only reasonable conclusion you can draw from the evidence you have. So you will have to troubleshoot it on your own.

How do you explain the many millions of iPads that are working just fine with current updates?
Apple users are not bashful. If there were a problem, this forum would be flooded with posts. It's not.
I am experiencing intermittent severe battery drain since updating my iPhone 8+ to iOS 16.3.
I have caught the battery diving down quickly when I see a gear icon spinning next to the WiFi symbol on the top left of my screen.
Otherwise, I get a full day out of the original battery.

Dave ~ Does your iPhone 8 Plus still have its original battery?
And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

I am having the same issue No Cell Coverage never showed up on my battery use now after the “Upgrade” it is the largest consumer of battery life. I have not moved and make and receive calls just as I have always done from my house. No not sure why this has changed or why it is being reported as such. I used to charge my IPhone 13 Pro Max every three to four days now it is every day.
To the folks that say turn on Airplane Mode. Really why have a phone if you cannot send and receive calls.
