A new item appears in my email window "Load content directly". Why is the content not automatically loaded? How can I change this setting?

We understand that you're seeing an alert in Mail asking if you want to load the content directly, correct?
If you're using macOS Ventura, it includes additional privacy settings for Mail which would allow you to block remote content as outlined here: Change Privacy settings in Mail on Mac - Apple Support
"Use Privacy settings in Mail to manage settings that prevent email senders from learning your IP address and information about your Mail activity.
To change these settings in the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Privacy."
