iCloud Backup of Files App files "On My iPad/On My iPhone"

In the Files app on my iPad or iPhone, if I have a file stored ON THE DEVICE ("On My iPad" or "On My iPhone") and NOT in iCloud Drive, is that file included in my device's iCloud Backup (as long as I have the Files app switched on in iCloud Backup, of course)?

I have a 5.9MB file "On My iPad" in the Files app, but when I go to Settings>AppleID>iCloud>iCloud Backup>My iPad>Show All Apps, although I do see "Files" listed among the apps and it is switched on, it says "No Data".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have searched previous posts and am finding a lot of unclear or conflicting information.

I am trying to avoid wiping the iPad and restoring from the backup just to see if the file comes back!

Thanks in advance!!

UPDATE: I spoke with an Apple Support representative on the phone after I posted this, and after I erased and restored the iPad. The file in the Files app "On My iPad" WAS backed up in the iCloud Backup and was successfully restored FROM the backup, as expected - even though this is not explicitly stated in the "What does iCloud back up?" support document here What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support. What is strange, and what the Apple Support representative did not have an explanation for was why, even after a backup, erase and restore, the Files app listed in the iCloud backup apps list STILL says "No Data". We agreed I should try putting more files (now over 160MB worth) in the "On My iPad" section of the Files app and monitoring the amount of data the Files app shows in the iCloud Backup app list (for 24 hours or so), to see if it changes at all from "No Data". It may be a delay, or it may be a bug.

The important part is that it IS backing up these files, but it should certainly be showing the amount of data there, not "No Data". I will update this thread if it changes to show the correct (or any) amount in the next day or so.

Anyone else seeing this strange behavior?
