Is iTunes going away?

I heard a rumor about iTunes going away. I am hoping that is not the case. I backup my iphone to itunes on my computer, because it is a FULL backup. Also, I can restore it to my new iphone when I get one. If iTunes went away, not sure I would buy a new iphone. Just trying to verify if this is a rumor or fact.

Yes. Microsoft recently announced that iTunes for Windows was being replaced with the Music App, Tv App, and Devices app. They are now available for download as Beta testing apps from the Microsoft Store on Windows 11 only.

Thanks for the information. I found an Apple Devices Preview app on the Windows Store. It says that it does backup and restore. I am going to install it on my Windows 11 machine to see if this is what I am looking for. Thanks again.

It is what you are looking for. The App is the one I linked to above, in my other reply, and have provided a screen shot above.

Remember it is still in preview, and may have issues and glitches than are not fixable until an updated version is rereleased. So don't expect perfect functionality.

I don't know. On Macs running Catalina or later device management duties such as sync, backup, and restore are shifted into Finder, the Mac equivalent of Windows (now File) Explorer. Presumably the new Music app for Windows either includes those features, or Apple have a plan for how they will be replicated. I don't have access to Windows 11 so I cannot download the beta.

By the answers I am guessing that I did not make myself that clear. What I am not wanting to go away is the feature in iTunes that allows me to back up my iPhone and iPad to my computer. That is what I don't want to lose. Does anyone know if that feature will still work with one of the other replacement apps? I can back up my phone and if I need to replace my phone with another, all I have to do is restore my backup to my new phone and EVERYTHING is back to the way it was. I don't want to lose that feature. I hope that this clears up my question.
