iPad mini 4 simcard

My iPad mini 4 has a Sim card slot however there is no tray . Does it require a tray or do I simply insert the Sim card into the slot? What can I do to install the SIM card if there is no Trey can I use an iPhone’s Sim card slot tray?

WiFi+Cellular models of iPad have a physical SIM slot - which has tray/carrier. The SIM carrier is not common between iPad models; similarly, you cannot use the carrier from an iPhone.

iPad and iPhone use a nanoSIM. You cannot use a physical SIM card without the iPad’s SIM carrier. If you have lost the SIM carrier, it must be replaced with appropriate item. For replacement, you need to contact Apple Support.

You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
