Water damage

So the other day my phone very briefly maybe for 10 seconds got submerged in water I let it dry plugged it in and got the standards water message I let it dry for a day and then went to plug it in and it wouldn’t charge now my phone I have an old iPhone charger that’s just plain usb and it charges with that my question tho is why can’t I use any other usbc charger why is my phone only letting me use this plain usb apple charger
