I have horizontal lines on my macbook air m1 2020 that blink

I have horizontal lines on my macbook air m1 2020 that blink. It started yesterday, I thought it would go away but it obviously hasn't. They have 3 intensities, the highest is thick noticeable white lines that are slightly transparent, the next is that they are almost completely transparent and only noticeable when I look for them, the next is that it is completely gone. This cycle repeats every 3 seconds and every intensity stays for about a second. My Apple Care has run out and I'm not looking forward to needing to pay hundreds of dollars just to repair this, I've had a previous problem that was fixed about a year ago, it was due to a monitor problem which they replaced on my laptop.

Hi ineedhelpcanyoupleasehelpme,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

To address the behavior with lines on your display, disconnect any devices or peripherals connected to your computer. Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) by simply restarting your computer.

Restart your Mac in macOS Recovery and check whether the behavior continues there. If it does, you will need to have your mac inspected and serviced for repair. For options, contact Apple Support or find a nearby service provider.

"Start up from macOS Recovery

First make sure that your Mac has a connection to the internet. Then follow the appropriate steps based on whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon:

Apple silicon

Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window. Click the gear icon labeled Options, then click Continue.

Intel processor

Turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold Command (⌘)-R until you see an Apple logo or other image.

If you're asked to select a user you know the password for, select the user, click Next, then enter their administrator password."

The issue with the lines on the Mac screen can be represented in many different forms and colors. The issue needs to be addressed immediately so it wouldn’t become a permanent problem. Here are some of the reasons that could be causing the issue:

1. Physical damage to the screen

2. Extensive overhearing

3. Damaged or improperly connected cable

4. Outdated or incompatible graphic drivers

5. Hardware problems (graphics card or motherboard)

6. Various software issues

However, to fix the lines on Mac screen, you can try the below DIY fixes:

1. Reboot Your Mac

2. Check Cable Connection

3. Connect Another Display

4. Reset SMC

5. Reset NVRAM

6. Install Graphic Card Updates

7. Reinstall current macOS

Hope it helps!!
