Apple One Family Sharing and Individual Subscriptions

I know that when you subscribe to Apple One, all the individual subscriptions should automatically cancel and you’ll receive a prorated refund. This is clear.

However, if the account subscribed to Apple One organized a Family, what will happen to the individual subscriptions of the Family Members?

Apple’s answer on this isn’t that clear to me. I’ve talked to multiple Apple Support representatives with conflicting views. Some say it should be should automatically cancel and be refunded, some say it won’t and the prorated refund rule applies to the organizer’s account only. I’ve also read some threads in the community that it should be refunded.

May I know what’s really the case? In my experience, I have an annual Apple TV+ subscription. In the middle of that subscription, I joined a Family with an Apple One shared subscription. My TV+ subscription didn’t cancel and I wasn’t refunded. Is this really the expected behavior, or should I dispute this to Apple?

Hello aldwinjayson,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help answer your billing question.

When joining Apple One, the other accounts would get a prorated refund for the subscriptions that are being replaced by Apple One.

This Apple Support page has the some details: Bundle Apple subscriptions with Apple One - Apple Support

If you have more questions about your bill, please reach out to an Apple Support Advisor for further assistance: Get Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hello!

I am in a similar position. My sister is the family organiser on our Apple One Family subscription. Her individual Apple Music subscription has just expired, so she is now on the Apple One music subscription. I am still on a Student Apple Music subscription and I have now canceled it as we have an Apple One Family subscription.

Now, my question is: when my Student Apple Music subscription is finished at the end of this month while family sharing for Apple One (of which I currently have access to everything except Apple Music on the Apple One subscription) is enabled, will my Apple Music then automatically change to Apple One, since Family Sharing is enabled?

I had an iCloud+ subscription and only when I canceled it could I access our Apple One's Family iCloud+, so I am assuming the same thing will happen with Music?

Please get back to me as soon as you can! Thanks!
