New MacBook Air - Cannot select text in notes to copy and paste somewhere else.

I transferred notes from my old Macbook Pro to my new Macbook Air. I use these notes to copy and paste a lot of text to my team members in my direct sales business. Now, I cannot even select the text inside of a note so that I can copy it. Any ideas?

Hey SimmerDownWithStacie,

Thanks for reaching back out. If you create a new note, do you still experience the issue with highlighting and selecting to copy? This will help us in isolating the issue a little more.

If it happens with the new note, we recommend seeing if the same issue happens in safe mode. Sometimes safe mode resolves issues related to specific apps. Be aware that internet access is limited in safe mode, but sometimes just starting in this mode and then restarting normally can resolve some issues: How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Hello SimmerDownWithStacie,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. If you haven't tried yet, we recommend to restart your MacBook Air and see if you can copy and paste the text from the Notes app. A restart can help resolve unexpected behavior. If needed, here's how to properly restart your MacBook Air:

"Restart your Mac

  • On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.
  • If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”

These steps are outlined here: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

We look forward to hearing back from you with an update.

Kind regards.
