Hello alect,

The point of Hide My Email is to generate a random email address when you don't want to create an account with your own information. For example, say you're on a website that requires you to have an account to view the content, if you don't want to create an actual account with your own email info you can use the Hide My Email function to create a random account so you can get into the site and access the content. You can find more info on the Hide My Email function here: Create unique, random email addresses with Hide My Email and iCloud+

If an email is sent to one of the random email addresses you created with Hide My Email, the message will be delivered to the iCloud email address that is associated with the Hide My Email address. If you're not receiving the email, make sure you have iCloud mail on in Settings > name at the top > iCloud > iCloud Mail.

If the iCloud Mail is enabled but you're not receiving the messages, you'll want to contact Apple for assistance with the account: Get Support

Cheers!
