+52 added to phone number in FaceTime

Why is Facetime adding “+52” in front of a U.S.-based phone number when I attempt to make a call on my iPad?

iPad Pro, 12.9-inch, 6th Gen, Wi-Fi

rwelty,

Thanks for providing those additional details.

Just to confirm, are you using the same Apple ID on your iPad and iPhone? If you are using a different Apple ID on your iPad, is the country/region set differently than the country/region on your iPhone?

If unsure, check out this link here for help with checking that: Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support

Use your iPhone or iPad to change your region
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap your name, then tap Media & Purchases.
3. Tap View Account. You might be asked to sign in.
4. Tap Country/Region.

If you are using the same Apple ID on both devices, or if the Apple ID country/region is correct, are you by chance using any VPN software on your iPad? If so, try disabling the VPN temporarily and see if the issue persists.

Keep us updated on the results.

Take care!

Hi rwelty,

Thank you for letting us know.

Check whether you see the same message when you try to view your country or region online. To do that:

1. Sign in to appleid.apple.com.
2. Tap or click Personal Information.
3. Tap or click Country/Region.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions. You must enter a valid payment method for your new country or region.

You can find those steps in the article we shared earlier: Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support.

If you need more help with this, the next step to take is to contact Apple Support: Get Support.

Take care.

Hello rwelty,

We appreciate you for verifying that the country is set to the United States. We recommend to temporarily turn off FaceTime and to turn this feature back on. From there, let's see if +52 continues to appear when you use FaceTime for your contacts. To perform this step on your iPad, please go to Settings > FaceTime > turn off "FaceTime." Then, wait a few second and turn on FaceTime. Verify that your information underneath the two sections of "You can be reached by FaceTime at" and your "Caller ID" matches to that on your iPhone.

Please let us know if these steps help.

Kind regards.

Thank you. When I click on "Country/Region" in both iPhone & iPad it gives me several sentences explaining what Apple services/subscriptions I must sign out of to change it. It won't let me even see what it's set to, but it should have been USA all along, as I've never attempted to set a different country/region.
