How do I fix no sound with HDMI cable adapter?

I am using ipad Pro Model A1652. I have lost sound on video streams from Paramount Plus and Amazon Prime within the last month or so. I am connecting via Apple Lightning Adapter to HDMI cable with AC power. Had it all before. My TV sound is on. In control panel I see a slider for sound but it is grayed out. I’m suspecting this is something from a recent upgrade.

Tried reboot iPad, reinstall apps, quit and restart app. Plug and unplug cable.

Just tried YouTube video. Plays with sound. Quit that app and try Amazon Prime, no sound.

I am iOS 16.2 (20C65)

Everything plays fine with sound on the iPad when not connected to TV

It sounds like you're having an issue hearing sound when you connect your iPad to your TV via an HDMI cable.

We recommend checking out the steps in the section titled "How to restart an iPad with a Home button" from the article here: Restart your iPad

1) Press and hold the top button until the power off slider appears.

2) Drag the slider, then wait for 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3) To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

The reason why we are recommending the steps above is because while a restart can seem unimportant, it can actually resolve many minor issues with the device.
