I'm at school and the school wifi has its limitations/blocks useful resources so I don't use it, i got a vpn so i could access the blocked websites like how i did with my windows laptop (i got my mac a week ago) but ever since then i can't connect to my hotspot which i would usually use to access all websites. when i click connect to my hotspot and go into the details it says i have a self-assigned ip even if the vpn app is closed.

Try removing the VPN and compare your results..

okay nevermind issue is resolved i guess i just had to restart both devices LOL thank u
okay i trashed the vpn and emptied said trash and turn my hotspot on from my phone and click on it on my mac and it connects and says connected but nothing loads on anything so somethings still up, theres a caution symbol on my mac in the wifi settings on the hotspot network that is flagged hidden network and it still says my iphone has a self assigned ip (i used my friend's hotspot for a bit and it worked) (i also am making sure the hotspot is on)
