OPTING OUT OF GROUP TEXT

It appears that one is unable to opt out of a specific group text. I've searched and read suggestions and none of the options, i.e., "Leave Converstion," "Mute," or any other disabling option is nowhere to be found within the group text listing or in Message setting on my iPhone X. It would be most helpful to have that option available for anyone at anytime to opt out of a specific group conversation; instead, I read that there is no way to opt out. The suggestion is to ask creator of group text to recreate a new group text leaving a specific number off. Very inconvenient for the creator and everyone else who wishes to be included.
