Will OS 10.7.5 (Lion) work on Mac Pro 5.1 Mid 2012

Hi everyone I wonder if someone can help?

I use legacy software that requires me to use operating system 10.7.5 Lion.

I currently use the software and OS system on Mac Pro 1.1's, 3.1's and 2 early 2009 upgraded to 5.1's also mid 2010 5.1 without issue.

I am looking to purchase on eBay another 5.1 but this one is a Mid 2012.

It was originally shipped with OS Mountain Lion.

From research it is looking like Mountain Lion may be the earliest OS that this 2012 Mac Pro will run?

Is this correct please?

I am not concerned about Bluetooth as I don't use it or WiFi as I connect with Ethernet. Just wondered if the computer will boot up in OS 10.7.5. The legacy software I use is iMovie HD 6.0.3

Thanks.

Mac Pro, OS X 10.11

Hi, many thanks for confirming it will run 10.7.5.

However I already have the bootable system on SSD.

If I explain, I started off with 5 x Mac Pro's 1.1s. All of which started off I think on Panther and Tiger and over the years were all updated to the latest Lion 10.7.5 they would run. All official and upgrades from 10.6.3, paid for directly with Apple.

The 1.1's are obviously all very old now and I have slowly been retiring them and moving on to 3.1's and 5.1's. 2 of the 5.1's are upgraded from early 2009 4.1's, 1 is a mid 2010.

Up to now I have simply being removing the OS 10.7.5 SSD drive from the 1.1 and putting it into the 3.1 or 5.1 and booting up without issue. The old 1.1's retired to storage.

Will I be able to do the same with the 5.1 (Mid 2012) or would I have to actually install from scratch with 10.6.3?

Thanks very much for any advice on this.
